Something New: Reader’s Choice for Book #2 in the Marshall James Series

The paperbacks arrived!

I’m doing something completely new with the Marshall James series and having readers choose the main storyline for book #2. Ebook readers can now find this at the end of the book.

Below are two scenarios for a central plot. JUST FOLLOW THIS LINK to SurveyMonkey and vote for the story you’d like to see next. I’ll close the voting at the end of December and get to work on the next gripping Marshall James Novel in the new year, featuring the storyline readers most want to see in the second book. I’ll announce it at my website MarkMcNease.com, and do my damnedest to get it to you for your fall reading, 2018.

Without further ado, here are the options:

(1) BEAUTIFUL CORPSE: A MARSHALL JAMES NOVEL

It’s been a year since the Paisley Parrot murders. Marshall has moved on, now working at the Skylight, a gay bar in West Hollywood as far removed from the Parrot in atmosphere and clientele as it is in location. New, trendy, packed every night, and dangerous, the Skylight is at the epicenter of L.A’s underground drug culture. Marshall will have none of it: he’s newly sober and living with Mac McElroy, the LAPD detective who’d saved his life during the Paisley Parrot/Popper Jack killings.

Theirs is true love—or so they thought when they moved in together. Mac and Marshall have hit a rough patch and Marshall storms off to clear his head after an argument. He ends up at a bathhouse for the night, saying no to every offer of quick, comforting sex, holding on to his monogamy as tightly as he’s holding onto sobriety. Someone slips him a Mickey at the bar and turns his world upside down—when he wakes up next to a beautiful corpse. To make matters worse, this is just the first in a string of murders and a trail that leads directly to Marshall. Who is killing these men, and why is Marshall being blamed?

Meanwhile, Mac has discovered evidence that could identify and help capture the man who killed his lover Bobby on a dark L.A. street years ago. Will he find justice for his slain beloved, or will he take vengeance into his own hands?

Marshall works frantically to prove his innocence, identify the killer, and save his relationship with Mac before it all comes crashing down and buries them alive.

(2) FALLEN STARS: A MARSHALL JAMES NOVEL

It’s been a year since the Paisley Parrot murders. Marshall has moved on, now working at the Skylight, a gay bar in West Hollywood as far removed from the Parrot in atmosphere and clientele as it is in location. He’s sober now and living with Mac McElroy, the LAPD detective who’d saved his life and the man he’d fallen in love with during the Paisley Parrot/Popper Jack killings.

Marshall realizes a bar isn’t the best place for someone who stopped drinking. But what are his career options? He serves a lot of young actors and decides he just might have what it takes to be one of them. He signs up for acting classes only to find murder center stage as one young actor after another starts turning up dead. The closet becomes a casket for some, in an age when being out and proud could cost your life as well as your livelihood. Is a casting couch the last thing these men saw? Who is luring them to their final curtain call, and why?

Meanwhile, Mac has discovered evidence that could identify and help capture the man who killed his lover Bobby on a dark L.A. street years ago. Will he find justice for his slain beloved, or will he take vengeance into his own hands?

Marshall must find out, for their sake and his own safety. Death stalks the footlights as he pursues a killer into the wings, where darkness, sadism, and a twisted lust for fame wait to claim another victim. Will it be Marshall himself?
