Children’s TV Program ‘Into the Outdoors’ Wins 13th Emmy

Lucky number 13! I co-created the children’s TV program, ‘Into the Outdoors’, with Rick Rose 16 years ago, and wrote the first two seasons. Congratulations to the creative team behind the show as they continue to educate kids and bring home the statues!

Wisconsin-based children’s TV show gains recognition for its science education efforts

Madison, WISC. Into the Outdoors, a popular children’s television series dedicated to science education, won a 2017 Emmy Awardat the annual Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Science Emmy Awards Ceremony held recently in Chicago. Since its debut in 2001, Into the Outdoors has earned 17 nominations in the category of “Outstanding Achievement for Children/Youth/Teen Programming, winning a total of 13 Emmy Awards to date. The show is produced by Discover Mediaworks, which is owned by St. Germain residents Mark and Lisa Rose.

Into the Outdoors has successfully informed and inspired youth about environmental science for 16 years,” said executive producer, Mark Rose. “We couldn’t be happier with all that the show has accomplished over the years.”

“Our production team puts forth outstanding efforts year after year and has earned every bit of recognition they’ve received,” added executive producer, Lisa Rose.

The show is produced by Dan Bertalan.

The 59th annual Chicago/Midwest Emmy Ceremony was hosted by Mike Toomey on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017 at the Swissotel in Chicago. The Emmy awards are judged by other chapters across the country that make up the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Judging criteria includes content, creativity and execution. The Chicago/Midwest Emmy Chapter is one of the largest and most senior local Chapters in the U.S.
